Austin conference will link gamers with potential investors

In today’s decentralized world of gaming, where more and more people are making video games, it’s harder to stand out from the pack.

But for those who succeed, the rewards are great, with an ever-widening audience. Want an example? The wildly popular smartphone game “Angry Birds,” created by previously obscure Finnish developer Rovio Mobile.

In short, there’s a lot of money to be made. But the new landscape also poses a challenge, with so many games competing for attention on crowded platforms like Apple’s App Store.

That gave veteran conference organizer Steve Farrer an idea — why not hook up game developers with investors?

To make it happen, he’s putting on the first Game Investment Conference April 13 at Advanced Micro Devices Inc.’s Austin headquarters. [Read full article at Statesman.com]
